Mounties search for missing girls who ditched camp

LA RONGE, Sask. – are on the for two who ran away from a camp site north of La Ronge, Saskatchewan on Saturday.

Fifteen-year-old Tristyne and 14-year-old Morgan Hystad were part of a and canoeing group in the Missinippi Lake area.

Their group set up camp on an island on and then both swam from the site. They were picked up by a boater and returned to the campground.

Later, they were seen hitchhiking southbound on Highway 102.

Ballantyne is from Deschambault Lake and is described as approximately 5’1” tall and weighs 120 lbs. She has a slender build, and her head is shaved on one side.

Hystad is from St.Benedict and was described by witnesses as being a little heavier and has long, curly, dark-.

Officers do not know where the girls are headed but are asking anyone with information on their whereabouts to come forward and call 306-425-6730.
