Saskatoon strip mall business catches fire

SASKATOON – The Department was called to a report of smoke at a strip mall on Sunday afternoon.

Around 3 p.m., the first fire engine was on scene at 218 Wheeler Avenue and found smoke coming out of a window on the second floor of the business.

Firefighters entered the vacant business and quickly extinguished a fire on equipment and materials which were being stored on pallet racks.

Crews extinguished the fire without any flames extending to adjacent structures.

No injuries were reported.

An investigator is determining the cause of the fire.

Damage is estimated at $50,000.
