Deal reached in White Rock civic workers strike

The City of has reached an agreement with employees after several months of job action.

The agreement comes after a series of rotating strikes affecting everything from bylaw enforcement to garbage collection.

“I’m pleased we have been able to come to a tentative agreement,” said Mayor Wayne Baldwin in a statement.

“This means we are closer to our employees returning to work and resume delivering the excellent public services our residents expect and deserve.”

Employees had been without an agreement since 2011 and were looking for better hours, benefits and treatment for part-time staff.

No specific details of the agreement have been released.
