Harvard-trained exec Ellis Kirkland arrested by Toronto police after 67-year-old stabbed in Rosedale

police have arrested a Harvard-trained executive who allegedly stabbed a 67-year-old man with a large kitchen knife before fleeing with a weapon.

Toronto police were called to an apartment building at Rosedale Valley Road and Park Road, near Yonge and Bloor streets, Thursday morning at about 7.30 a.m.

A man was rushed to hospital with multiple stab wounds that are considered life-threatening. Police would not say where in the apartment building the man was stabbed, or whether he knew his attacker. The suspect left the scene in a vehicle which was located at an undisclosed location in the city shortly before 11 a.m., Const. David Hopkinson said.

Police arrested 60-year-old Toronto resident this afternoon.

The NATO Association of (NAOC) lists her as one of its vice presidents. Kirkland is also the chair and founder of NATO Paxbuild Economic Platform, which is described as a special project of NAOC that is “designed to encourage peace and security through economic stability.”

A biography on the program’s website describes Kirkland as an “internationally recognized Harvard award-winning Resource Infrastructure Specialist” and a “Harvard-educated, internationally-renowned global trade specialist.”

She was featured in a glowing Ottawa Life profile published Oct. 22, 2014 that called her “the go-to person for insight into large infrastructure projects.”

According to the profile, Kirkland has a “Masters of Architecture in Urban Design from Harvard, with a specialty in large-scale infrastructure development, and a Bachelors of Architecture from University of Toronto.”

In January, Ottawa Life interviewed Kirkland about the federal Liberal government’s infrastructure plan.

According to police, Kirkland is 5-foot-4, has straight black hair past her shoulders and a medium build. She was last seen wearing black pants, black shoes, a three-quarter-length light-grey or brown coat and carrying a brown purse with a black stripe and gold buckle.

Police warned that she is probably armed with a knife and if anyone sees her, they should not approach her, but call 911 immediately.
