Amanda Knox won’t return to Italy for appeals trial

NEW YORK – U.S. student says she’s not returning to for a new appeals trial over the 2007 killing of her British , even though “everything is at ,” because she’s innocent.

In an interview Friday on NBC, Knox was asked if she worried that she was handing an by not attending the trial.

She responded, “I look at it of an admission of .” She says there’s no trace of her in the room where her roommate, Meredith , was killed.

In March, Italy’s ordered a new trial for Knox and her Italian former boyfriend. An in 2011 had acquitted both, overturning convictions by a lower court. The new appeals trial begins in on Sept. 30.
